Dear James,

I am dreadfully sorry to hear that Tillie has become so gun shy around motherhood. I cannot speak to the private lives of my other patients, but I will say this: woe betide the man that believes the first years of marriage will be smooth sailing. My own wife and I experienced rough seas. But, we persevered and learned to sail the roiling waters together! I am sure that you and Charlotte can do the same. Even so, I will prescribe something to help with the nervousness. I am not one to hastily refer an individual for institutionalization. I am a proponent of patience with the fairer sex. Give ever more than you think you may have, and your wife may yet come around. Youth is a stronger medicine than any I could prescribe.

Sincerely,

Dr. M.O. Mordecai
