From the notes of Dr. M.O. Mordecai

October 29th, 1897

Patient (female, 24) complained of malaise and irritability, along with headaches, and aversion to touch.  Patient appears pale and withdrawn, with signs of low iron.  Suggested general disinterest in motherhood after the loss of firstborn 5 years ago.  Prescribed a nerve tonic of strychnine to be taken daily.  Husband expressed concern at wife’s progression and demeanor, brought up more intensive psychiatric treatments.  Deemed unnecessary at this time.
